Leavers of 2018
Five years on and what a five years it has been! Your teens are a fast-retreating memory; you’ve survived studying in Covid Lockdowns and foothills of your career are ahead. And with those changes under their belts and on the horizon, the leavers of 2018 returned to HCS. They found the school much as they remembered and enjoyed pointing out classmates in display photographs of plays and sports teams of their era. The list of names after theirs on the Sports Honours boards in the Zimmerman Hall caused them to reflect on the passage of time as did the Heads of School Honours Boards in the Library.The news of HCS’s digital strategy and learning through laptops caused many to note that HCS was more advanced that their university, and they wished they too had been able to take the HCS Diploma with its elements of budgeting, cooking and handling difficult conversations.Despite the changes, so much of HCS was familiar and memorable. It will, as the Headmaster said, always be their school. So good luck to the leavers of 2018 as they climb the foothills of their career and we look forward to helping them alone the way with any networking or mentoring from other OH they might wish for.
